Then, as he rightly says, teachers shouldn't be allowed to smoke, nor should they be obese, as both of those things lead to an early death, and children mimic what they see.

This guy didn't tell anyone about his hobby, least of all the kids, he is no threat to them, however the person that brought it to the fore needs to be disciplined, as the kids wouldn't have known to look for a teacher as a porn star.

What he doe in his own time is his business,

That's my 2 cents

I'm sorry that's a pointless argument, anyone working with children / young adults has personal responsibilities in how they conduct themselves.
He put himself in the position where he could be found out. In any other line of work I would support his right wholeheartedly.
My attitudes to sexual freedom, BDSM whatever are left at the threshold when I drive into college. I don't tutor now, but befriending, listening and offering guidance, is a serious responsibility. If someone feels they cant accept the quid pro quo that goes with that, then perhaps they shouldn't be working with children.

He was in charge of children of a young impressionable age. The children probably thought it was good having someone like yhat in there midst but the parents would not have thought the same way and you could gaurantee that the school governers would have wanted him out. His choices would have mean't that less parents would have wanted to send there children to his school which in the long term would have mean't a substantal loss of revenue for the school due to a lower pupil intake

I have to say I do think he has a point as well - but I do have to ask - 'where do you draw the line?'

Smoking is a deadly pastime, Being obese cant help your health, Drinking to excess can be a danger to your life. Most things relating to sex arent anywhere near as dangerous (assuming you play safe).

It strikes me that the whole issue is more of a moral one - clearly the dangerous pastimes are more socially acceptable even today than sexual ones. His comment that some looked at him as a role model for standing up to his principles - get the impression it was the act of standing up to them, rather than the principles per say.

Anything like this will be contraversial if youngsters are exposed in any way - yet as someone already said - they can find it all on the internet in any case if they so wish.

I would agree though that he is probably nigh on unemployable now, except for perhaps an Adult Education Centre!

You're missing the point. You have to be unambiguous when dealing with children.
By his own stupidity and arrogance he put himself in this position. Once this was common knowledge, how long would it of been before accusations of 'talent spotting' or grooming were voiced from parents?

The article doesnt mention what age group he taught, but it is by the by, if the kids are under 18 they shouldn't be viewing porn. He wasn't doing anything ilegal.
If any parents had objections I would ask why they were allowing their kids to view such material.
He wasn't doing it on school premises, unlike teachers smoking.
This strikes me as the misguided actions of a sex starved Puritan who thinks sex is wrong.

If I have read the article right, there is no indication of when he performed. The picture does kind of suggest that he has been doing the stripping / acting and teaching at the same time but it isnt confirmed. Question is, did he do this before he was teaching? If that is the case, it is unfortunate that a skeleton has popped out of the closet.
A fair proportion of the population probably have skeletons best left in the closet. I saw an interesting picture of a scantily clad lady modelling at a fashion show with not much left to the imagination. She is most likely our next Queen!!
As a nation, I feel we are still too prudish and I still feel that the guy has had a bit of bad luck.
I do acknowledge David that there is a fine line and quite likely this guy has overstepped it in some way or another.

Its a bit like that in the farming world - everyone knows everyone else so you cant even fart without someone knowing almost before you have!
