Letter From The Tax Man

Just had a letter from the tax man, it was not a shock as I have been waiting on it. I wrote to them in July to explain why I could not pay them and ask for "easy" terms. I had thought about putting a proposal to them but thought I would wait to see what they say.

Then I waited for a reply...

It was very simple and to the point:

Thank you for your letter dated the 7th July

We will give you a full reply as soon as possible.

No wonder the system is in such a mess.

Ho hum Sarah, sounds like you have to wait for a response that could end up with an immediate demand for the whole amount. A suggestion - if you can pay some on account, I would do so straight away as it can only help your request, not hinder it.

Are you using an accountant and claiming back everything from Mileage through to Toys and Sustinance when away from home?
Let me know if not and I can pass on some contact details.
You can see why we pay so much Tax when they waste money sending out letters like the one you received - Sure they would not accept a response like that if we sent it to them!!!

Already had the demand, now asking for time to pay. just made me laugh getting a letter like that from them. i had thought I would have had an immediate response to my letter with a means test questionnaire to establish how much I could afford.

A friend of mine used to pay her accountant in kind, an exchange of services. There used to be a web site called payment in kind but I think it shut down.

I have an accountant defiantly worth the money as to me it like a mine field what can be written off etc and if you do stugglr to pay your accountant will negioate for you. Gd luck.
