People are paranoid about STIs because THEY CAN KILL YOU. And if not kill you they can leave you infertile, blind or desperately ill. Even the 'non-serious' ones as you weirdly call them. The chances of catching them may be small, but it's still possible. The chances of being run over are small but i still look both ways before crossing the road and wear a helmet when I'm on my bike.

To catch an STD somebody has to have it in the first place, but what are the odds of that in a normal part of the country not ravaged by poverty and disease? Or even a moderately run down area? It has to come from somewhere, if nobody has been exposed to an STD in that particular area, common sense dictates that nobody will have one and thus nobody will catch one.

Also please explain to me as to how come small towns are not safer from STDs then?

Chlamydia, left unchecked and untreated (often symptomless) is a major contributor to eptopic pregnancy which can kill. It can also cause infertility in women. Are those things worth keeping one bareback seeker happy? I'd imagine not.

Gonorrhea can leave both men and women infertile, and even kill. It can spread to the joints causing severe long term pain and mobility issues.

Herpes - there is no cure for. It is spread super easily, and once caught a woman, if undiagnosed will pass the virus to her newborn baby at birth. Herpes kills babies. Does someones unborn child deserve the consequence of it's parents past indiscretions? No.
