A wee bit lonely?

Hey people,

Wee question for you all - as the nature of the industry dictates self-employment and sometimes a lack of colleagues... Do you ever feel lonely?

It's a job I love and I wouldn't trade for the world, but sometimes I wish there were more people to shoot the shit with.

I have joined a group and that has helped considerably, but was just wondering other peoples' viewpoints.

Only have online friends who are in the business, was invited to meet up for coffee with a local girl but not yet done that.

I don't feel lonely but can see how isolating this work can be, especially with the temptation to do it all the time if living alone. I'm used to having long distance friends...I have a friend who I didn't realise had done webcamming too until I told her I had started doing it, so I chat with her about it. I also have other friends that I talk with about it too, and I live with my family and have my partner to share things with as well.

It's funny for one of my friends that I talk with about what I do because she has another friend who divorced her husband for having webcam sessions, and it wasn't about the money he was spending since he's quiet wealthy, she felt he was being unfaithful. So she's between one friend who does it and one with a very narrow view of sex etc.

I am totally in this place at the moment.

I feel really bad about it, actually... because I do neglect my friends a bit.

I seem to be giving my work more priority than my social life... and as a consequence, yea... despite seeing a lot of people during my "working week" I can still end up feeling a bit, well.... alone?

The other thing is that it is very difficult not having anyone you can talk to about your work... you know... if you've had a difficult day and you just blow some steam. I have a couple of friends who know what I do for a living, but they don't understand my frustrations and they can't really share in my joys either, because this world is just so alien to them. People outside of the industry have a very bizarre view of what it must be like to work this way!

So I have a few "virtual" friends who I can chat to and natter with... and I am on a few forums too... but it's really not the same.

It is really nice to have a few ladies that I can chat to about my anger at other ladies and they can tell me there problems. Its nice to meet them occassionally just for a chat and a coffee. I still see one as a escort the other found the lines becoming a bit blurred. So I stopped booking her and carried on seeing her as a friend.

It is not a easy situation to befriend a escort as they are a suspicious bunch and always think you are after something for nothing with my escort friends I would not cross the boundaries even if we were both a bit tipsy, I am always in control of my little ones thoughts. I can imagine its a lot worse for a escort to become chatty with a punter

Admittedly, I think I've perhaps went a bit far with some of my regulars... But I'm new to this and it takes time... Telling a client *too much* about you or *too much* about the job is a bad thing, I think... For one, I don't think it helps for them to realise it is *work* for you.

I've told a few of my closest friends about what I do, but like Trinity says - they just don't get it. It's not their fault, it's just because it is totally alien to them.

But, like I say, joining a group on AW has definitey helped me, and the likes of these forums are good to discuss things.

I find it refreshing to work alone and be away from the hustle of groups of people

I do feel quite isolated at times but belong to a few forums and twitter so chat to other girls on there. I find its totally taken over my social life as I would rather work than go out tbh. I can get quite bored at times especially when all you get all day camming is a bunch of freebie hunting twats but I escort too so get some lovely male company from my regulars. But all in all I would rather be isolated and a bit lonely than join the rat race x

I'd rather be lonely than have colleagues and a boss again too. I may get a proper job again in a couple of years though and it could be hard to adjust...I think I'll be taking less crap though, this work has brought me out of myself more.
