I think it takes people to sometimes build up confidence in posting especially if they are new to forums I remember when I first started posting on a forum the only topic I posted on was about the weather until I built up my confidence.

I think the key is to appear to friendly and welcoming and not to judge to much once people see that it is a friendly place they will confident in contributing.

The one thing that you will never change is that there are people that contribute and people that just lurk

Very wise words Emily, id hate to come over all confident and knowing, and so put others off saying what they thought, the point of a forum is to exchange info and get details, and that only works if people are going to listen, and let others join in the fun, who cares if they have 1 post or 50, they still have their right to say what they think is true.
