Jem is absolutely right, there are some girls who are just naturally pretty, and there are others for whom it is essential that mother nature is given a helping hand, without which men would not take a second look.
It's sad in a way, does this mean that men are generally so shallow as to not be able to see the personality beyond the facade? Probably.
It's interesting that in the animal kingdom it is usually the male who looks pretty and colourful. Yet in the human race it's the female that makes all the effort to look attractive.
One girl I saw in Glasgow a while back always has immaculate make-up, but I saw her once minus her "face", and although it was momentarily startling, once I got over it, and remembered that it was her personality I liked, the issue of her appearance rapidly faded into the background and we had a fabulous afternoon of relaxing fun, because she wasn't worrying about messing up her makeup.

I just want to have fun
