'Prostitute' or 'Prossie' - What are your feelings about these words...

I really don't think the term prossie is derogatory certainly not in the same way as words like slag, slut or whore etc it's obviously just the shortened/lazy version of prostitute I simply find it childish because it is a word I used as a child and I think I sound silly using it, I doubt even those who use it online actually use it in the presence of or in communication with wgs.

No word is derogatory or complimentary.What makes it either is intent,its the way they mean the word.That is what makes all the difference.For some its written or said with venom and hatred.Then the word takes on a whole new meaning.

A lot of truth in that, there are AW service providers who incorporate words like slut and whore in their usernames I've not come across a slag yet but I'm sure there is one, these are not terms I would ever use though, wg suits me fine.

It depends who's saying them too! I guess it's a bit like how we can say tranny, but we don't like non-trans people to say it generally, unless we're being paid haha

If the person themselves is saying it then they're kind of reclaiming it, making it part of their identity. Someone else saying it is more likely to mean it in a derogatory manner, and it can be kind of uncomfortable even if they aren't. Most sex workers I know don't like the term prostitute either way, and is considered more offensive than "whore" in fact.
