Advertising is most certainly the key to a good site, if a site is not advertised how do people find it? Even being listed on Google / other search engines is a form of advertising. Most of the advertising is done by the girls that advertise on the site promoting their own profile.

I am sure, when AW first started, it did advertise to help promote the site, it also ran half page ads in the Sunday Sport for a while

Clients do not risk getting themselves exposed unless they put up personal information / photos, probably about 90% of male users have no information on their profiles

This can be a risk at any time if you are not open about what you do. But for the girls that work at it full time, they need as much advertising / promotion they can get. And considering the 30% cut that AW take, they should do a lot more to promote the site.

it has been mentioned on this site many times that AW take a minimum of 30% of all credits paid out, that information is public knowledge and is freely available on the AW web site.

Why would they have to "separate the services very distinctly if they wanted to advertise more widely", you do not explain your reasoning.

They are hardly likely to be advertising in the general media such as daily papers / magazines, Tv etc... Other than possibly adult magazines / Tv channels, although you can pick up many local papers to find escort adverts in them

Many other sites, as mentioned above, do spend a large amount on promoting their sites on porn web sites, these are ideal places for targeting guys looking to wank themselves off.
