In answer to your first question Sarah no I'm not suggesting that, I said earlier that if a serious accusation is made it should be held on file and if in the future a similar accusation is made and it comes from an unconnected source then you can think about making it public. There has to be suspicion about anyone who joins a forum just to make a serious accusation it's probably personal and almost certainly malicious.
No I don't think the example I gave of my own negative reviews is a serious accusation and unless the wg concerned has nothing but that kind of review it's not going to do much damage to her income, lets say I was considering visiting a particular wg and she has 4 reviews, 3 are positive but one is a negative review like the example I gave would that deter me from seeing her............almost certainly not but I may contact her prior to making the booking and refer to the bad review and express the hope that this will not occur when I meet her, the rest is up to her, incidentally the example I gave of a wg's response is the kind of thing you hear from them when trying to explain negative reviews.
It's also worth remembering that the vast majority of reviews on ALL punting sites are in fact POSITIVE, you will have to take my word for it Sarah but I do tell the truth when I write reviews, I don't write negative reviews in the hope of putting the wg concerned out of business or positive reviews to increase their income I write them so other punters can feel better advised about who to spend their money with.
Do reviews actually have any great impact on the wgs concerned, talking about this with wgs themselves the general opinion is that a few good reviews in a short space of time can see a spike in bookings and neutral/negative reviews may see a drop in bookings but neither scenario lasts for very long or has any long term effect. The fact is most punters don't use forums or read reviews, I could tell you about a certain wg who has had plenty of negative reviews but she's a featured AW advertiser and that guarantees her far more attention than all the reviews and comments on all the punting forums put together.
