Falling for a client...

I'll tell you what I did - I married him! We live on different continents, but spend half our time together.

On the subject of meeting clients for a coffee beforehand I always do this. Several reasons..

1) I see only one person a day and live a fairly chilled life, so I just *can*. We only do that the first time unless we both feel like a coffee next time. Even looked at from a purely financial perspective, I think it is a good tradeoff as I get the more cautious guys and it is a great USP.

2) I know from long experience when a guy is excited he is likely to ring the wrong doorbell. Now I live in a liberal part of town but there is only so much I'm going to put the neighbors through.

3) My decorator caused the neighbourhood quite enough grief by hangng round outside getting drunk when he took a fancy to me so again I'm limiting the hassle caused to neighbours, with lost or refused guys hanging about.

4) When guys are going to Get Some all sense of direction leaves them. I point them at a landmark they have to be retarded to miss and meet them there. Note: this is not foolproof.

5) I do not think fast and would feel pressured during a phonecall to make a quick decision. I'm not new at this and I still need more time than most. I play to my strengths - more spare time.

6) Clients often tell me the reason they chose me was because they can meet me for a coffee and run away if they feel the need and this gives the encounter more the feel of a genuine date.

7) Any guy is going to feel awkward going into a strange house. I might have six huge pimps waiting to mug him. Once he meets me somewhere neutral I won't even consider taking him to my place until I can tell he feels safe.

So all in all it works for me. Sorry for necroing the thread.
