At first glance I agree. But on thinking about it, I wonder if a discount offered on an occupational basis is a good thing. Other service jobs are hazardous, some severely lower paid too. Why not firemen or nurses for instance.
The bottom line for discounts is it should be at the individual providers discretion.

I guess if you live by a military base and you want to encourage that kind of clientelle then it would be beneficial to offer such a discount. It would be pretty pointless where I live as the nearest military base is in Hereford and it's not big. We don't really have a huge focal area of industry here come to think of it.
