Very sensible idea, but you can actually fly for less than it costs to drive or take the train if you book at the right time. And it means you can be here in less than an hour.

Sometimes it does, but often not, I book a lot of travel between London and Scotland, and the plane is nearly always cheaper.

Ah but going anywhere from London or to London is often cheaper, as it is the centre of the universe.

Having said that, if I want to go to London on the train from Worcester it costs me £62 minimum, but if I get the virgin train from Birmingham to London it costs £20 return.

It would have cost £148 to fly to Belfast from Birmingham, but we managed to get a flight for under £75 from Newcastle.
