IS YOUR DATA SAFE ID /PASSPORT

WARNING WARNING NO DATA IS SAFE ON ANY SITE

I can understand AW being security conscious but giving ID or passport information is highly dangerous. How many times have we seen in the media reams of personal information being hacked from highly secure sites. In one year there was a major data base one of which included all the names andresses of newly joined military personel in the UK. I should know as I wrote a book on the subject.

Im very surprised AW has gone down this path. The whole idea of joining AW is to keep personal information private and AW cannot say that the information given will be totaly protected.

One of the attractive things about AW was the privacy that one could have on this site as an escort.

I can give you information on how secure your data would be on AW or in fact on any so called secure site and what could they do with this data. If you knew the whole story ...start to get worried.

Hi B
Yes you are quite right, however.......it takes some pretty sophisticated software to 'Hack' a server, I doubt there are many on AW with that sort of knowledge.
I also think that the only trouble someone would encounter would be from a disgruntled punter/service provider.
If anyone is concerned over their security here are some tips which may/may not be of use:
1: Passwords should contain upper and lower case letters, numbers and characters.
2: Passwords need to be changed weekly.
3: Do not use your private mobile/home phone No. get a 'Punting' phone.
4: Set up a 'Cash Plus' © account, simple and anonymous, that way if your security is breached the only personal information leaked is potentially a load of sheet.
5: Don't use your actual name in any correspondence at all, even go as far as setting up 'Fake' FB © and Twitter © accounts.

They require the ID verification for service providers working on the site to prove that they are over 18. Otherwise underage people could sign up which would be illegal..
It protects both the site against allowing under 18's to sign up & also protects anyone that meets with for an example an escort as she has uploaded proof that she is at least 18.

Whilst some may be concerned about uploading passports as ID and what 'might' happen 'if' something went wrong - it's worth keeping in mind that AW do this in an attempt to prevent children being forced into sex work (as was the case with the Philippines), scammers and such.

I'm all for EVERY provider on AW being fully verified - in a place where adult material is so easily purchased it sits easily on my conscience as a socially responsible provider.

Yes good advice for service seekers (punters) as for me personally it would cause minimal embarrassment if I was outed as a man who pays for sex but I know most punters/wgs would probably prefer to maintain their anonymity.

Yes this is the really important point how else would you verify age, I can understand the concerns about online security but I can't think of another way of doing it.

Has AW ever suffered a hacking attack that has compromised it's members personal data ?.

There is perhaps another issue, am I right in thinking that the rules concerning access to you personal data are governed by the laws of the Country in which the server is actually located and not by the Country from which you access the site.

Doh! Nova I mean Sad

Also bear in mind Hackers do what they do mostly for personal gain.......I doubt they would gain much from hacking AW

I am sure your average escort / punter has no interest in hacking into Adultwork, so that is not the point.

There are plenty of people capable of doing so who have other interests, usually criminal.
