we would have done it as brackets first and times it by the answer to the first bit, so I make it 288.

12x2= 24
48/24=2

forget the brackets

48/2 = 24
9+3 = 12
24 x 12 = 288

Brackets first 9+3=12
the brackets are multiplied by 2
That is 24
48/24=2
