APPG Prostitution questionaire.

My apologies if this has previously been raised, but we are down to the final days now.

Call for evidence
Posted on January 8, 2013 by APPG Prostitution

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Prostitution and the Global Sex Trade is launching an inquiry to assess the current UK legal settlement surrounding prostitution, and to identify how legislation to tackle demand could safeguard those in danger of sexual exploitation and abuse.

We are gathering written evidence through a questionnaire, which can be accessed here:https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/prostitutioninquiry

The deadline for response to this questionnaire is Monday 4th February at 16:00. Responses received after this time will not be considered.

If you prefer you can access the questionnaire as a pdf:

Or as a word document:http://appgprostitution.files.wordpress....quiry.docx
and email your response to: kay.steven@parliament.uk.

There are already laws to combat this the same as there are laws to comabt anybody that is being exploited who are not working in the sex industry.

Maybe they will suggest an ID card system like taxi drivers and we will all need to be Licensed, no more lying about your age....

Maybe they will legalise brothels? Haha - as if!

No, much better to keep girls working alone rather than allowing them safety in numbers....

Its another look to see if the UK should adopt the Swedish / Nordic model and criminalise the client by making it illegal to purchase sexual services, on the back of human trafficking claims from abolitionists. As is currently being debated in Ireland and Rhoda Grants proposed bill in the Scottish parliament.
At least the APPG are willing to gather evidence and take on board the experience of sex workers and their clients before any proposed legislation.
I'm sure those that wish to see P4P outlawed have grabbed the chance to put their views forward.

The push to outlaw it EU wide has already gained considerable attention and approval.

Dr Brooke Magnanti concerns about about lack of representation in Ireland during the consultation on the Swedish model. http://www.thejournal.ie/former-belle-de...itter_self

ps.The National Ugly Mugs group wants everyone to contribute to this survey, escorts, brothels, agencies, directories.

Since you present yourself as a representative for an organisation seeking the personal, sensitive, delicate information from members of this community, I'm sure you wouldn't mind politely revealing a little about yourself. I await your response with anticipation.

dare say our opinions will be ignored though - we are, after all, just a bunch of alchoholic, drug addled, vulnerable exploitation victims :S

You too huh? It's a drag isn't it.... having to go out and find a guy on a street corner every couple of hours to make another twenty quid for your next rock, not to mention the couple of hundred quid a day for your pimp. Sometimes I can hardly make enough for my nightly bottle of vodka so I have to steal it from Tesco's.

Pray tell me where did I say I was a representative of the All-Party Parliamentary group, exactly? Along with many groups and individuals we have been advertising this on forums, twitter and other social media to make sure people were aware that an arm of our legislature were interested in hearing views on the profession.

Being asked to give voluntarily and anonymously, ones views on the outdated and dangerous prostitution laws in this country, and how they might be improved, is hardly asking for personal sensitive or delicate information from sex workers or clients.

It was an opportunity to challenge some preconceptions about the profession to those who are working to frame new legislation regarding sex work. If we don't make our voices heard and put up a positive defence of sex work from both sides, provider and client, then it will be railroaded through on the back of the stereotypes and misinformation supplied by the abolitionists.

Me? I'm a libertarian and client, what I wish to do with my own body, and what consensual sexual activity I wish to indulge in, should be my choice, and not that of the church or state.
There is a concerted effort to outlaw paying for pleasure(P4P) by the means of criminalising the client and seeking to abolish legal prostitution within the member countries of the European Union.

My main concern is for those like myself who are labelled disabled by society. And who are presently able to experience some human warmth and intimacy from non judgemental sex workers without the fear of prosecution and being labelled a sex offender.

I trust your anticipation has now been rewarded.
