AITA has heard this morning that a UK adult performer has had an initial positive test for HIV. This person is having a second test today to confirm. We call on producers and performers to do as follows:
1) Please suspend all shoots IMMEDIATELY, pending the results from the second test. Your health, the health of others and the potential future of your livelihood are all at stake.
2) If the result of the second test is positive, all shooting should be suspended while all performers are re-tested, particularly those performers who have worked directly or indirectly with the performer concerned.
3) All performers should use condoms with sexual partners while this process takes place to avoid any risk of further spread.
AITA is working to get full information on the situation and will advise as we have the facts.

My bone of contention with BB is this... That no matter how safe some protest to be... it has been proven over and over again that not even porn stars are safe in the filming industry.
There are girls on AW who offer BB with all and asunder not knowing who and where they have been and majority never get tested or have certs. These people unwittingly and actually knowingly take the risk of not only passing on an std but also HIV. I also know that there are some "amateur" porn stars who do not even have certs and also offer their escorting services on AW. This is not only causing a risk to the clients partner but also to working girls who are safe in the industry. STD's can be passed on orally, so what do we vanilla girls do, remove OWO from our services?
One more thing, the girl who had the hiccup. Yes although I do have some empathy for her I did not consider her the victim in all of this. As surely you know the risks you take when performing and offering BB. You are never safe no matter how hard you try and force yourself to think you are.
Not even condoms offer us 100% safety!
I used to be snow white but drifted...

Yea, for sure that is true.
I do agree with you - this is a risky business... we all take risks every day with our health and also with our safety. We do what we can to minimise the risk, but we can never do what we do in a 100% safe way, even with condoms.
Sadly, potential exposure to STD's (and even to HIV) is a hazard of the job.
I do feel very sorry for him or her (the report didn't say) and they must have gone through hell in those couple of days between the two tests, as must everyone they had worked with. Huge amount's of anxiety I'm sure. But at the end of the day, girls like us can't really bitch about it.... that would be like a soldier complaining that people are shooting at him!

Thank goodness it was just a simple clerical error. Fingers crossed it does not harm her career that she was involuntarily outed.
