No.. don't see the point when you're an indie and it's a total rip off. Just another excuse to sponge of the adult industry.

You can register to protect your brand from being stolen for one set fee but I haven't checked out how much yet..

Stop Escorting Summer 2013 so Book while you still can!

I'm sure the price will soon reduce

I just think it is an easier way of grouping all adult related content into one TLD, it makes it easier for schools, and parents to block inappropriate content for their kids too.

I understand the concerns regarding the protection of minors and am in absolute agreement, obviously, no one underage should be exposed to adult content, but there have been sufficient tools available and are still available including site labelling and parental filtering software, which is more than capable of protecting minors from adult content if used by correctly by responsible parents and webmasters.

The only real reason current measures to protect minors doesn't do such a great job is purely down to lack of responsibility and parents have to take a large portion of the blame for that, it is their responsibility at current to install relevant filtering software to protect their children, but have failed miserabily, mainly through lack of knowledge more than anything.

.xxx will not prevent anyone under that age of 18 accessing adult content if they really want.

If the cost of .xxx was fair and reflected cost of other TLD's then I suppose I would actually support the cause, but owning 90+ adult domains I doubt I will be signing up anytime soon!

Plus do you think they will stop at .xxx, the more people jump on the and wagon and support the cause, the more likely it is that it become mandatory for all adult content to be using a .xxx domain.

.xxx is purely a money making exercise IMO.

Fuck.xxx

I share your concerns Louise, it will never stop unscrupulous website owners that deliberately go for domain names that are easily misspelled and are very similar to something popular.

I wouldn't ordinarily condone something being mandatory (it can be very nanny state etc) but I think if adult oriented sites were only allowed .xxx domains there could be no ambiguity. If you are heading for a .xxx domain you know what you are going to be getting.

Even the most inept parent would be able to see how to easily block a .xxx website too.

My concerns though are that a whole portion of the net could be censored by disreputable governments.

The whole subject is full of pro's and cons

You're right, pros and cons, I suppose I like the idea, just not the cost and what's next.

A lot of new legislation for adult industry sneaking in that will effect small website / adult business owners.

That is my concern too, a puritan government somewhere could just block access to all .xxx websites in one fell swoop.

Now if the sites were the same sorts of prices as other domains, and came with a guarantee of no external interference, it would be a better idea.
