Can't believe I missed out Billie Holiday! I used to listen to Barry White when I was younger, but I'm wondering if it would sound too cheesy now.
There was also a French singer called Daniel Balavoine, I used to love. He died in the mid 80s when he was in his 30s. L'amour est triste is one that has stayed with me for some reason!
