I think it is a sensible idea, if you go to a .xxx domain you should know what you are in for, some unscrupulous characters in the past have registered .com domains with names very similar to those of quite innocent sites, in the hope of a misstype.

This can be very difficult for parents an schools to combat when trying to protect children (although those who are determined to find porn often will)

Not all adult websites use the correct domain metatags so that filters can fiter out adult content.
