I quite like the word PROSTITUTE and commonly refer to myself as such, (or a filthy whore- depending on my mood) however when someone else was to use such a term it is usually done as a negative, and nobody has the right to put me down without my permission.

Hi Sophie, well put!!!! I think that punters and wgs know that the word prostitute is just a job description and stops with work. in no way does it describe the person. Unfortunately, people outside of punters and wgs use the word much like a branding iron. Describing a person as a prostitute is judgemental, unjust and bigoted. A prostitute exchanges physical and or mental experiences for money and or favour. Society rates this as sordid, low esteem and largely unacceptable. A psychologist practising in sex therapy exchanges physical and or mental theories and answers for money. Society rates this as healthy, high esteem and acceptable. I know who i'd rather see,

Quote:I don't like the term 'sex worker' either, mainly because there's a lot more to my job than sex. Alongside the obvious, for me it's also about companionship, caring, listening to client's troubles and worries, having fun and being a friend. Indoor Sex Worker & Outdoor Sex Worker sounds a little cold and mechanical, but I guess it's whatever floats your boat! Actually you have an EXCELLENT point and I totally agree with you but I wanted to offer the media a term that replaced prostitute whilst doing interviews during the Bradford murders and it seemed less derogatory. But wholeheartedly agree we offer so many roles Annalise! x Perhaps we could use "erection demolition" lol xxx

would it give you a different perception of the punter and his attitudes if he called you a prostitute instead of an escort ? ie could it be argued that someone would "use" a prostitute but "meet" an escort ? I know the service is similar but would you feel more comfortable with being seen as an escort and not a prostitute ?

You can't just simply disrespect someone and wait for respect in exchange. We already know what/who we are but a disrespectful way to treat us won't get punters a good treat from us. You cannot wait for respect when you don't give respect (one of the rules of life, not of escorting).

I didn't used to have a problem with the word prozzie, however, I have found that this word is being used in a negative and nasty way towards escorts in recent years. It has now become a word that I find myself getting offended by, purely because of the way its being used. I especially hate it when its spelt pro$$ie.

Are not the words doing the ham, is they way they are used to do the harm. +1 |
