You'll probably find most of the girls who are streetwalking, are either there to support their own drug habit, or someone else's. Some of them have been bullied into it for other reason, and some are there because they might have been trafficked, and some might be there to feed themselves because they're homeless. It's quite unlikely that a streetwalker will be out there just because she wants to be. This is why they need our help.

This should probably go into a separate thread now - but does anyone have any ideas what could be done to help them - It's probably dangerous territory, but it seems to be getting to be a bigger and bigger problem, and it discredits the decent end of the industry.

In fact if the seedy end of the market was wiped out, there would be a far better chance of legalising the decent side, which in my opinion is actually an excellent social service, if only it could be recognised and accepted as such.

Dangerous territory and practically impossible territory. The complexity of each and every case would be astounding... To help girls who are streetwalkers, you would have to deconstruct issues surrounding addictions, organised crime, trafficking, importing and exporting of illicit substances, illegal weapons, homelessness, mental illness, abuse, violence and the list goes on.

Moreso, these girls have got to WANT the help... Which you might find is already out there in one way or another, and is just not being used.

Where would the 'help' come from? Who has the resources to deal with all of the above and more? Pretty much no-one, which is the worst part of it all. You can throw as much money as you want at trying to eradicate streetwalkers and their pimps and everything else that surrounds them... But it's ultimately not going to be enough without people with time and patience and resources of their own to facillitate.

It's unfortunate... But I certainly don't have either the desire, time, or resources at my disposal to help in any real way. I'm not sure I know anyone who does...
