Many profiles on adultwork do state they are retired, some even come back, more than once! Some announce a retirement to boost business and then claim not to retire due to not wanting to disappoint so many clients. And yes, others just disappear as I have done on many occasions.

I think you are being a little unfair, after all you do not know the circumstances. Adultwork used to shut profiles down for no apparent reason and on one occasion when they did a major upgrade my account simply disappeared.

Linzi put it in perspective, nobody actually owes anybody anything, after all, how many punters "Cheat" on escorts by seeing others?

I think this is important. And as Monty said, many have to juggle two separate and distinct lives.
I do know of one instance personally, where the public reason for retirement was totally at odds with the real reason, and as difficult as it was for her regulars, I would hope they had excepted her reasons with good grace and wished her all the best for the future without enquiring too deeply.
