My account knows what I do, he was recommended to me by another cam girl so I felt comfortable knowing he already did similar accounts already. He is based in Bristol and I deal with him via email and post. I can send you his details if you want. Think he charges about £160 to submit 1 yrs tax return to the revenue.

I'm an chartered accountant and I have to say £160 is very cheap. Like everything though prices vary as does quality.

It's really difficult to choose an accountant. I always suggest talking to a few and asking them how they can help you. General answers like we save you tax don't cut it. They need to be more specific. And they should talk to you for a decent time. Ten minutes isn't enough!

Finally, don't forget the accountant's fee is tax deductible, so taking into account national insurance  you're only paying 70% of the cost.

Hey everyone...

If this is just about your year end Self Assessment return it really isnt as complicated as you may think, esp if its just a case of declaring your earnings and out going's from this work. I'd like to bet 99% of you would be able to deal with your own returns without paying £100's for someone to do it for you. You dont need to be qualified to file your own return. Good paperwork and logging is all thats needed.

If anyone's familiar with Excel i'm just in the process of setting up a pretty useful template which, as long as you complete weekly/monthly will make your next years return a doddle. Obviously it probably wont help you for the most recent year end, but still happy to forward on to anyone who would benefit for  the 16/17 tax year.

If anyone's stuck on completing this years return just give me a shout (will reply when I can)

And no, im not touting for customers, free friendly advice for other women doing what we do, if we cant help each other then we're screwed, Plus I have enough returns to do to last me the next 4 month, it bores me and time outside of the day job, would rather be spent in bed. Or there abouts Tongue

I agree but the one common theme I find with clients is they are "frightened" of claiming all their outgoings. HMRC will not be particularly helpful in giving you any advice. A good accountant may cost £100s but they will save you that in tax and national insurance by claiming everything which is an allowable outgoing.
