Wow that is awfully sad!! They do warn about doing patch tests first though... I have sensitive skin so I follow that guideline but I know many don't... It's a horrid freak accident thats for sure!!

At least she is still alive. Only a week or two ago a girl died because of her hair die, scary stuff.

I don't think I'll be reaching for the Grecian 2000 just yet!

Why you should do a patch test:

Allergy to paraphenylenediamine

It's not the brand, it's the presence of a chemical abbreviated as PPD. I'm picky with the hair colours I use for that reason.

It may also been found in textile or fur dyes, dark coloured cosmetics, temporary tattoos, photographic developer and lithography plates, photocopying and printing inks, black rubber, oils, greases and gasoline.

Wow just looked up your link Laudanum!

This is why I tend to keep to the same brands, although it is important to check when they say 'new improved' etc, as the ingredients has likely changed.

I use that hair dye but always makes my head itch like mad when in the 30-40min leave on process but goes to show what the chemical reaction can cause.

At least cosmetics have come a some way from the days of painting you face with lead or arsenic!
Not a long way, apparently, but some way!

And I hope to hell, she gets better!
