Question about banking - MaryJaneHolland - 07-08-2020

Hi,

I'd really appreciate some help. I've been looking to apply for a business bank account for my credits to be paid into and most sites recommend this rather than a personal account. However, many companies' terms and conditions states that those engaging in "dating/escorting" or "pornography/adult entertainment" may not open an account with them. They also ask when you apply for a business account what the nature of your business is.

Do those who own a business account tell a white lie? Or should I open a separate personal account? I want to keep my self-employment funds separate to my employment funds.

Many thanks

Hi, white lies are needed in this industry. But a business account is 100% not needed at all no. Feel free to open a normal current account and feel free to tell them its to accept wages into for self employment as you wish to keep them separate. They will get this all the time.

With fintech banks these days though, you can setup an account within minutes and not have to tell them anything about why you want it.

Coconut, starling, monzo, tide, monese, mettle, amaiz etc

Personally I would just go with Coconut and be done with it. We have many years experience with all of the named above.
