Hi,

Has anyone on here experience with SEO and how to optimize it? I have an online business that I newly put together and would really like to get it out there now I've made a bit of stock.

Cheers
thanks x
Hi,

SEO is a bit of a black art and I'd be careful with many of the firms around who say they can help you out. There's no substitute for well written content, descriptive headings and link text as well as links to other well respected sites that offer similar or related content. There is also much to be gained from good meta data in the page header and urls that are descriptive rather than ?id=95623158 etc.

Google itself offers some very good technical advice here: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters...291&&hl=en which I would consult before paying somebody.

Hope that helps!

Chris.

I'd second that. I've yet to come across one that optimise their own sites let alone someone elses.

Beware also of claims they make for getting sites to No1 in google results. They are based on very specific search terms which I doubt anybody in the real world (ie punters) would use. For example, if I google 'Escort Manchester', Melena comes up on page 4. If I google 'Elite Milena - Sexy high class escort in Manchester', she comes up as the first result. Pick the right search terms and you can get any site as No1 on google
