sorry for the late reply I thought I would be notified if I had a response. 

I have designed various gallery sites but it depends how big the site is and how you wanted the content stored etc as to if it would need some backend work.

If you had an example I could take a look.

Click your name at the top/left of the page > User CP > Edit Options > Messaging and Notifications section (especially the drop-down list at the bottom of that section).
