Is it worth renting somewhere to cam? and any advice?
#1
I am currently looking at doing cam on a more full time basis, registering as self employed and making a real go at it. Right now I have only done it now and again, haven't really been serious with it. Fully intending to get more known on social media etc get a website etc.

Only issue is I find it hard to cam at home (I can't make noises so I have to not advertise as not having a mic) and all in all there is just too many distractions and lack of privacy.

Is it worth renting somewhere to perform? And if so where would I rent? Would an office do? If I put a nice sofa in it hung up some lingerie toys out etc and some nice pictures.

I looked into this a few years ago when my upload speed at home was too low to really use for professional camming. IMO it is nowhere near worth it. You'd be loking at a minimum rent of £300 or more per month, a minimum term contract, trying to find somewhere private and fairly noise proof, then factoring in the travel time and costs. Why not just work without sound? You can also offer IM and join other private based sites to maximise the number of shows you can fit in during the time you have available to cam at home x

It is possible to work without sound. With children in the house I'm not comfortable making any kind of noise as I don't want any awkward conversations lol!
I personally think it's not going to be worth renting somewhere cost wise.

I rent
but I escort too, I aim to have 3 meets a week

My rent is £341 for a one bedroomed flat but all my costs incl fast speed broadband and sky TV are about 500 a month, but I budget for £600

Not all of it but much is offset again my self employed tax status

I am also in the position of being in receipt of a reasonable pension, so I came into this from a different viewpoint.

Hope that helps

I was looking at doing this myself but after working it out tbh it didn't seem worth the cost x

A friend of a friend of mine bought a garden shed and got some soundproofing in it! She painted it all white inside, got a sofa bed thing in it and as it's at the far end of the garden, nobody has a clue as they can't hear anything. I think she told neighbours it's her studio come office as she's freelance (insert job here) but I'm not sure about the electricity supply thing, there must be a way of sorting that out.

You can get electric to an outside quite easily, but please make sure you get somebody qualified to do it. My OH recently had to sort out a friends which had been installed by her now Ex husband, it was very dangerous. By law it should be carried out by a qualified person.

Don't forget that tax relief will only save you some of the cost (29% if you pay tax at the basic rate of 20% and National insurance at 9%). So for every £100 you pay the tax relief will reduce it to a true cost of £71.

Higher rate (40%) taxpayers will do better.
