Advice wanted, please don't judge me
#1
I have seen a local girl a couple of times, she has a pretty good profile, but has had to do selfies for her gallery, which are good, but could do with more variety. By no means a professional photographer, but have a couple of very good cameras, and we both thought it would be a good idea for me to photograph her.

I said she would get to keep the memory card to use the images as she wishes, I get to keep nothing to avoid any danger of images being shared without her consent (which I'd never do, but better safe than sorry). I think that's fair enough, and so does she.

Crux of my dilemma is when I first mentioned it, I said I would also pay for her time. Money is tight for all of us, and I'm not sure whether I should abide by that, or request that as this is a favour for her, that we do it in our own time. I said I get nothing, but it could be argued that I get to see her with her kit off, which I have paid for previously, and very happy to do so. I would never ask for anything for free, but am I wrong in thinking this should be done in unpaid time? I don't want to offend, which is why I'm asking for advice. Honest answers welcome, just please don't be harsh on me if you think I'm trying to get free thrills (I'm not)

Pay for her time end off ! I take all my photos and videos by myself and not had a complaint yet  I am sure she will feel the same way .

If i  was her I would see this as you getting a freebie and this shouldn't be pushed ! Sorry but most will see  freeloader all over even if not  ,,she can do pics On a timer , off cause a extra hand helps but you don't know how she's feels ..

Maybe offer to take some before during and after pics during a paid session so win win both ways and only takes a few mins x

I agree with Curvyblonde.

In the past I've had clients who've thought they had the experience and equipment to provide me with photos for my website. I gave up the best part of my day for free, and ended up with images which just were not useable.

Lesson learned is that if a client wishes to help out in his time, fair enough (and a few minutes over run is neither here nor there), but to do it for free risks someone being unhappy. So if you think you can get a few quick snaps in go for it and see what happens.

You must pay for her time and be true to your word. You made an agreement and now you want to change that agreement. Either stick to it or do not do the photos.
I take all my own photos and they have only taken minutes of my time. Selfies work!!!!

If you are seeking a sexual service (or a service at a reduced rate) in exchange for taking a few snaps; that is extreme boundary pushing. The woman is new and inexperienced in the escort business. Do not take advantage of her.

Purchasing a sexual service is a luxury. It is not an essential. Visit her only if and when you can afford to pay for the service you seek.

No, I do not want a freebie, nor take advantage that's not who I am, I just asked for honest answers, and that's what I got. I said I didn't want to offend, well it appears I have been more than a bit offensive. I thank you all for the feeback, that's why I came to you. Other punters in general would give me all sorts of other answers, including she should be paying me! You are right, I was wrong to question my original thought.

It was a good question to ask, others may be in the same situation.

I am fairly certain this woman will have had offers from other clients, and photographers. If I'm paying someone the boundaries change totally, I need them to be professional, no blurring of lines, do the job, supply the results. Even if done for free, it's still wasting time if the results aren't usable.

One person I spent time with did have an expensive camera, was experienced in taking shots of hotels and businesses for their publicity. Was not experienced in making a person the centre of the shot so I ended up with lots of very untidy looking photos, all of which were in the biggest detail possible, the data files were for me totally unmanageable and I wasn't versed in editing software to get me out of the background.

Others have just caught me at poor angles.

I have used a couple of client shots which were taken as part of his booking, something he liked to do (and after this happening numerous times I decided I should have some of these shots!), but something I didn't enjoy and no longer allow.

Most women can sort their own photos out either by using camera timers, a friend when dressed up to go out, or a trip to an advertising professional - all of which doesn't involve someone you have no other link to having images on their equipment, and without risks to the client/SP relationship.

Yes there are indeed many piss takers out there, and apologies if I appeared as one. Those who know me know that I'm not.

Expensive cameras do not guarantee good results by any stretch of the imagination. A good eye, knowing how to frame a shot, dealing with light (or lack of in some cases) are more important than the gear. Interesting point you made about the size of the files, and noted Smile

Thanks again D x

Just a general point on the subject about allowing clients to take pictures/film, this is something I would think long and hard about because even when it's made clear that it's for the clients personal use only I've seen lot's of this stuff turn up on sites like xhampster etc, and even if that wouldn't worry you too much at the moment our lives change and you may not be so comfortable with it ten years from now.

Professional v Selfie, I can understand why SP's want eye catching professional shots on their home page but I am a fan of the selfie and do like to see some in the galleries at least.
I'm really not bothered I like League One.

As for the question posed by the OP, well always keep the relationship professional and that means paying for the time you spend with her, now if she offers pictures/filming and you pay for that service and she then asks to use some of that material for her profile I don't see a problem with that but if she asks you to take pictures during a booking purely for her benefit then say no as it's your time that's potentially being wasted.

Doing favours, bartering for services are things we should all avoid it's best to keep it simple , punters hand over the agreed fee and wgs honour your promises on time and services, it sounds so straightforward when it's put like that doesn't it so why complicate it.

Totally agree, I guess I was trying to equate this to when I did do a session with a friend a few years back for her profile, but not as a customer.I would never try to barter for services, that's disrespectful . In the end she doesn't need me to do it, and was my idea. Makes no difference to her either way. It's so obvious to me now, not sure why I had to ask, but maybe others can learn from it too Smile
