BBC Wales Tonight - Selling Sex To Survive - sarahxxx - 10-03-2015

Once again we have another film maker wishing to expose the lives of prostitutes, this time in Wales. Whilst they look into how these girls are being exploited by pimps, partners and drug pushers, how is this type of documentary helping them?

Are they not, once again, being exploited by the film maker for profit?

It's helping indie escorts who are unaffected by those issues to keep their cushdy little world safe from competition (as people continue to think ih what an awful job is never do that!) You could see it that way Wink x

Gotta be honest. I didn't enjoy it. It seemed very one sided. Yes there are girls who use escorting to fund habits (of all different types), some who do it to have expensive tastes & a hobby for the nicer things in life, and, there are also some who actually enjoy the buzz that escorting can bring.

It would have been better if it had shown girls from a few different backgrounds - not just ones addicted to drugs / ones who really don't seem happy doing what they do. Not all working girls are drug dependent or miserable.

That's my two pence anyway xx

@xKatieBabyx Yes it was a scary program...

Unfortunately, as usual, it is only the weak and vulnerable who are taken in by these film makers. They are the same girls that do need the help of the authorities. They claim that these girls are desperate to get out of prostitution, no, the truth is these girls are desperate to get off drugs which is the cause of them becoming prostitutes, not all prostitutes are drug addicts.

The claim that 80% of prostitutes are drug addicts is only proven by the statistics they get from drug clinics, there are many thousands of girls that do not come to the attention of such clinics or social services. More is needed to be done to help these girls, not further exploitation by film makers, for their own gain.

What happens to all the cash confiscated by the Proceeds Of Crime Act? All money confiscated for drug related offences should go to local charities helping those whose lives have been made a misery through drug addiction.

Thank God I did not watch it. They all make me cringe how one sided they present anything: yet, you get used with them trying at least twice per year to present issues that suit them in the same distorted way.
